Welcome to the website of the Eurochance 2 project – On-line English, German, Spanish and Italian courses for blind and visually impaired (Project No. CZ/07/LLP-LdV/TOI/134011), which was realized in years 2007 to 2009. This website presents the second stage of the project. The first phase, Eurochance 1, is described at The general goal of the project was to reduce the unemployment rate of blind people by improving their qualification and competences. Moreover, the project aims to motivate visually impaired people to participate more in the social, political and economic spheres.

The second phase of the project had the following aims:

  • Create new modules of Spanish and Italian language (in addition to the existing English and German modules) based on the technology developed in the first phase.
  • Make the intermediate level courses available in English, German, Czech, Slovak, Norwegian, Spanish, Italian, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese, French and Romanian version (the original courses were available in English, German, Czech, Slovak, Norwegian and Spanish) and so disseminate the products over a wide range of visually impaired people across Europe.
  • Develop Methodology and study plans for tutors of on-line languge courses.
  • Design and implement a learning management system supporting the on-line learning process.

You can find the outcomes of this project at the Digital Language School portal. There are digital textbooks, methodology documents and the learning management system (e.g. application with e-learning features, built-in communicator and even more functions).
